Village Cleaners

Village Cleaners was founded in February 1956 by Angelo and Dorothy Caro in an older two-story home in Brecksville. Angelo, a policeman, had worked part-time for a dry cleaner in his youth. His familiarity with the dry cleaning business coupled with his and Dorothy's desire to be self-employed were the motivating factors guiding their decision to start their own dry cleaning company.

In the very early years, Angelo kept his day job while Dorothy ran the new business. The family lived on the second floor while operating their new business on the first. By the early 1960s, business had grown and more space was needed. They tore down the old house and replaced it with a modern commercial facility that continues to serve as the home of Village Cleaners today. In the mid-1960s, Angelo left the police force to join Dorothy in their prospering business.

During his high school years Jeff Caro, Angelo and Dorothy's son, stayed busy helping his parents by sweeping floors and performing any odd jobs needing done. This part-time work eventually turned into the only career Jeff has ever known. He became his mother's partner in business in the spring of 1978, continuing the Caro family's proud tradition of serving the local community. We met with Jeff recently, and listened as he outlined the services Village Cleaners provides;

Village Cleaners is a full-service dry cleaning and laundry company. We offer professional dry cleaning and laundry of all types of garments, including shirt service for men's business and dress shirts, and cleaning of leather, wedding gowns, and formal attire. We clean household items such as bed spreads, throw rugs, curtains, draperies, window treatments, blinds, and scarf swags, and we provide shoe repair service. In addition, we offer tailoring, alterations, and clothing repairs. We also offer take-down and re-hanging drapery service for our customers.

My parents began a tradition built on quality and customer service. We strive to provide our customers with the highest quality available in the dry cleaning industry. Our business is based on our Christian values, and everything we do has integrity built in.

The experience of our staff enables us to deliver superior quality and customer service. I've been in the business all my life, and Connie, our Plant Manager, has been with us for thirty-five years. All of our employees are cross-trained, and we have many staff members with twelve to twenty-five years experience. We have a cumulative 120 years of experience within our top five employees alone.

In addition to our Brecksville location, we also have another store in Macedonia that opened in 1986. Through these two locations we offer a pick-up and delivery service and a route service to the surrounding areas Monday through Friday. We travel as far north as Independence, as far south as Richfield and Hudson, and to Twinsburg and Walton Hills on the east.
